We welcomed 10,000 people from the national and regional transport and logistics community

The second edition of EXPOCARGA 2023 took place over four days at the Punta del Este Convention and Exhibition Center.

After a first edition that took place in a pandemic context, the exhibition focused on the region, trying to become a reference in transport, logistics and passenger mobility.

The event was supported by the Presidency of the Republic, MTOP, MIEM, MEF, MINTUR and the Environment, in addition to having obtained the Declaration of Municipal Interest from the Municipality of Maldonado and the Municipality of Punta el Este, and also from UNASEV. Through INALOG, it was also able to carry the flag of being a country event, being able to use the official seal “Uruguay Logístico”.

The opening ceremony was given by the Minister of Transport, José Luis Falero. The leader visited Expocarga 2023 and gave a few words in which he highlighted the opportunity that Uruguay has to position itself as a relevant logistics hub, facilitating the entry and exit of Mercosur to the world. “We have an opportunity that we cannot miss, which has to do with positioning the country – in terms of entry and exit of Mercosur to the world – as the true logistics hub, which we can become and we are on the way to doing so,” he assured.

The Minister said he was “convinced that Uruguay has a unique opportunity for development and that globally they see it in the same way: as a gateway to Mercosur”. He highlighted the advantages of multimodal transport, logistics and the geographical location of our country, which is surrounded by water. Finally, he indicated that collaboration between the public and private sectors is vital; and he thanked the private sector for its commitment to the future of the country. He also called for competitiveness and complementarity between the different types of transport: road, river and air.

The event has established itself as a true meeting center where dozens of strategic alliances have been made, in addition to closing deals in the most diverse areas.

The highlight in terms of presentation and launches came from the CIR Group, Volvo's official representative in the country, which made a spectacular presentation of the first 100% Electric VOLVO FM truck. This gave visitors the chance to get to know the new flexible and agile truck, perfect for high-capacity deliveries, transport tasks of all types and much more.

And much more...

One of the highlights of the event were the traditional PROTRANSPORTE and MOBILITY 4.0 forums, which once again stood out for the quality of their speakers, as well as the presence of 250 to 300 people in each one, whose main guests were students of various levels, from all over the country, who participated and shared these days with great joy.

At PROTRANSPORTE, cargo transport discussed the reality of the sector, with an emphasis on security, customs, regulations and quality of labor, to develop a logistics block where the central axis was to discuss how to improve logistics to minimize inefficiency, as well as optimize processes and generate a comprehensive flow of goods, with the definition of 4 axes of action to enhance the sector: Facilitating the connection between platforms, improving border crossings, digitalizing logistics processes and sustainability of the supply chain. Its inauguration was led by the National Director of Transport, Pablo Labandera, who highlighted that State policies have allowed the country to increase its reputation as a distribution center, consolidating its position in the logistics sector worldwide.

In MOBILITY 4.0, green hydrogen and electric mobility played a prominent role, in the desire to unite the vision of academia and private initiative, based on university experience and research and the projection of the main companies in the national market.
